The Recommendations Database already contains thousands of recommendations for service providers as well as travel tips, advice and other information.

To search the Recommendations Database:

• Log-in at Quentin's Friends Web Site
• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: 'Please Register' under the login boxes.
• In 'my hQ' click on 'Recommendations' under 'Search/Browse' on the right hand side.
• Search by key word.

Please note that you can rate recommendations once you have used the service.

Membership of Quentin’s Friends is by invitation only. So, to upgrade, you need to be a Trial or Alumni (Past) Member.

To post a message to the Quentin’s Friends community via our Listserv:

• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: ‘Please Register’ under the login boxes.
• In ‘my hQ’, click on ‘Post a Message’ in the ‘Just Do It’ section on the left hand side.
• Read the ‘posting guidelines’ & choose your posting category.
• All messages are moderated to ensure they are within our Posting Guidelines.
• Please take care to choose the appropriate posting category so that your posting will be correctly categorized in the Daily Digest & in the Message Archive.
• If you post in the wrong category we may ask you to re-post.

Please Note: You can track the status of your posting on your ‘My Own Postings’ page.

Finally, please remember to SAY THANKQ to members who help you out. If you receive too many emails to thank people individually then send a ThankQ message via the listserv to all of Quentin's Friends. See: ‘Ways to say ThankQ’.

To change the email address to which you receive emails from us & from the listserv:

• Input your new email address.
• Click ‘Save Changes’.

To update your credit card number, expiration date or billing address:

• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: ‘Please Register’ under the login boxes.
• In ‘my hQ’ click on ‘My Billing Information’ under ‘Admin’.
• Make your desired changes.
• Click ‘Submit’.

Quentin’s Friends holds regular ‘official’ events. In addition our members organize & recommend dozens of events – parties, benefits, live music, seminars, tele-conferences, webinars, art-openings etc.

All events are broadcast to the community in the Daily Emails & in the Weekly Events Digest Email. This includes Quentin’s Friends Official AND events organized or recommended by members and posted to the listserv.

In addition events are featured in the message archives & the Events Calendar.

To access the Events Calendar:

• Log-in at Quentin’s Friends Web Site
• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: ‘Please Register’ under the login boxes.
• In ‘my hQ’ click on ‘Events Calendar’ under Search/Browse’ on the right hand side.

Download events to your Calendar: If you click on an event in the calendar, you then have the option to save it with all the relevant information into your calendar. (Your calendar must accept vCalendar Files – the file ending is .vcs).

Views: The default calendar view is ‘Month View’, but you can also view it in Day, Week, Year & list formats.

Posting a message to the calendar is done the same way you would post a message to the community

When you arrive at the ‘Choose a Posting Category’ page simply click on ‘Invite People to an Event’ or ‘Recommend an Event’ under ‘Mingle’.

If you just want to post to the calendar without sending your announcement to the whole community via the listserv, then check the option ‘Post to the calendar but DO NOT send out to the group via the listserv.’ on first page of the event posting process.

All messages posted to the listserv are also archived on our site.

The Complete Message Archives contain thousands of Member postings. You can search them all or narrow your search to specific posting categories.

To search the Complete Message Archives:

• Log-in at Quentin's Friends Web Site
• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: 'Please Register' under the login boxes.
• In 'my hQ' click on 'Complete Message Archives' under 'Search/Browse' on the right hand side, or choose a specific category such as 'For Sale'.
• Search by key word.

Emails are broadcast via the listserv 2 in different formats:

• Individual Emails: Sent out in batches of up to 15 emails, 3 times/day.
• Daily Digest: Sent out once/day at 4.30p.m., this includes all the postings approved in the last 24 hrs, sorted by category.
• Advantages of the Individual Emails: You usually receive messages earlier, so you can respond to postings (the good deals!) earlier than those who receive the Digest Format.
• Advantages of the Daily Digest: You receive just one email per day instead of up to 45 individual emails. The emails are conveniently categorized.

To switch between Daily Digest and Individual Emails:

• Log-in at Quentin's Friends Web Site.
• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: 'Please Register' under the login boxes.
• In 'my hQ' click on 'My Member Preferences' under 'Admin'.
• Make your selection under 'Message Delivery'.
• Click 'Save Changes'.

You can receive emails from the listserv in HTML - 'Fully Formatted' or in 'Plain Text':

For most the HTML Version will be most convenient. Those who receive their email only on a Blackberry for example, may prefer plain text.

To switch between 'Fully Formatted' (HTML) emails & 'Plain Text' Emails:

• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: 'Please Register' under the login boxes.
• In 'my hQ' click on 'My Member Preferences' under 'Admin'.
• Make your selection under 'Message Format'.
• Click 'Save Changes'.

You can suspend email reception for up to three months.

To suspend email reception

• Log-in at Quentin's Friends Web Site.
• If you have not yet registered with the site, you will need to do so by clicking on: 'Please Register' under the login boxes.
• In 'my hQ' click on 'My Member Preferences' under 'Admin'.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the page & enter the date until which you wish to suspend your emails.
• Click 'Save Changes'.

PLEASE NOTE: Membership of Quentin's Friends is about giving & receiving help & benefits by staying connected with the community on a daily basis. (It is not just a website to be 'used' only when you need something). So, please only suspend email reception if you will temporarily not have access to email - THANKS!

To unsubscribe from Quentin’s Friends simply click on the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of (almost) any page of our site.

You will have the option to end your membership instantly, or to continue your membership until the end of your paid-up membership period.

One of our core community values is Generosity. To keep this value alive and vibrant within the community is important to ALWAYS say ThankQ when someone helps you in any way. There are a few ways to do this.

• Reply to an email they have sent you. While we mask members' email addresses, emails are funneled to recipients via our server.
• Give them a profile ThankQ: A profile 'ThankQ' is a short thank you message which will appear on a member's profile under their name represented by a 'Q'. It can be read by mousing over. There are links to do this under each posting in the Fully Formatted (HTML) emails. You can also do it by visiting a member's profile - just click on the link under their name.
• Send a ThankQ email via the Listserv: This is a good choice if you received too many responses to reply to individually, or if someone deserves extra special thanks that you want to tell the rest of us about. To do this, simply login to Quentin's Friends, click on 'Post a Message' under 'Just Do It' and then select 'Express Gratitude / Say ThankQ!'
• Give a Testimonial: In some cases you may wish to do this - such as when a fellow member has provided a service of some kind to you. To give a Testimonial, go to the member's profile & click 'Give a Testimonial' in the 'Q'mmunicate' box on the lower right hand side of the profile page.
